Sudden onset ataxia (wobbliness) and collapse. Presented as an emergency with balance loss. Received Colvasone before referral. Has improved overnight and can now stand.

Balance loss. Dorsiflexion of the neck. Unable to right herself and unable to stand initially.

Now able to stand and walk. Hypermetric (high-stepping) right forelimb gait.

MRI of the brain: There are two small visible masses within the brain. One is in the right cerebellum (this area is involved in balance) and the other is in the right frontal lobe.

These are thought to be neoplastic (tumours).

The CSF(spinal fluid) may help determine if the masses are tumours.

Two visible brain masses. Possible neoplasia.

Prednisolone 5mg; 2 tablets every 12 hours for 2 weeks.

Side-effects of prednisolone: increased thirst, appetite, urination, and panting. She may develop diarrhoea or vomiting.
